Father Time: The Social Clock and the Timing of Fatherhood
Details
Men's biological clocks may not be ticking loudly, but what about the social clock? Are there benefits to being in-step with social norms for the timing of parenthood? In a clear and accessible style, this book examines the advantages and disadvantages of early, on-time, and delayed first fatherhood. The book includes a foreword by Ross D. Parke.
Wendy Goldberg examines the timing of fatherhood exploring the impact of this important life stage on men's lives. This book has given me a fresh perspective on the role of fathers and what influences them, which will impact on my work with families. because this is a sound piece of research into an understudied area I think it makes an important contribution to the literature. (Jo Allen, The Journal of Critical Psychology, Counselling and Psychotherapy, Vol. 15, December, 2015)
