Feasibility of Composting in Urban Solid Waste Management

Environmental concern is a growing issue throughout society, as the environment and its preservation directly affects quality of life and human health. Contributing to this problem is the generation of solid waste in urban centers, which has increased due to an economic model that encourages inadequate consumption patterns and waste on the part of the population. There is therefore an urgent need to adopt management models that include the concept of sustainability and use various technologies to treat and recover waste as raw material for other processes. In this sense, composting is suitable for this purpose, using organic waste to produce fertilizing compost for agriculture.
