Feminist Study of Shashi Deshpande

Shashi Deshpande focuses on women characters caught in a conflict between tradition and modernity. Indirectly it affects their domestic relationship and this is mainly caused because of male-dominated patriarchal society. Shashi Deshpande is the mouthpiece of her women characters for whom the idea of being a sufferer or sacrificing does not hold any appeal she gives more importance to self-expression and individual fulfilment which is the real motif of modern women.
