Femoral Artery Pseudoaneurysms

Femoral pseudoaneurysms complicating cardiac catheterization results in significant morbidity. The treatment options for symptomatic and complicated aneurysms are ultrasound compression, thrombin injection and surgical repair. The authors review the etiology, pathology, diagnosis and treatment modalities for post-cath femoral pseudoaneurysms. They also share their experience in the new treatment modality of para-aneurysmal saline injection. Dr Hussien Heshmat is currently an associate professor of cardiovascular medicine at Cairo University. He published 20 papers in local and international journals, two book chapters and presented 17 abstracts in international conferences. His interests include PCI in acute coronary syndromes, valvular heart diseases.
