Filter Bank Multicarrier Modulation in Modern Wireless Communication

Filter Bank Multicarrier (FBMC) is a modulation technique that is used in modern wireless communication systems. The main concept of multicarrier modulation is based on splitting the signal bandwidth into subbands and transmitting the data on several sub-carriers. Orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) has a lot of advantages that have made it very useful in wireless communications. However, OFDM has the serious disadvantage of suffering a loss of spectral efficiency; due to the insertion of cyclic prefix to avoid multipath-induced ISI. Filter-bank multicarrier (FBMC) transmission was proposed as an alternative approach to solve this problem, while having several other interesting features. Generation (5G). The major drawback of FBMC is its exhibiting a very high peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR). Large PAPR means that the transmitted signal possesses a large range of values, which requires the use of amplifiers with a wide linear region of operation. This book will help those who are working in professional and academic in wireless communication systems.
