Financial literacy of persons with intellectual disabilities

In the field of special education, the priority of social adaptation and integration of persons with disabilities over the need for children to receive a high level of education is emphasized.In the case of intellectual disabilities, it is most important to master not deep academic knowledge, but those knowledge and skills that will be of practical use in adapting to society. This position characterizes the socially adaptive orientation of the special education process. Observance of this principle allows to overcome or reduce manifestations of psycho-physical deviations in the child's development, reduce his/her "social dropout" by preparing him/her for the most possible independent active life. The formation of economic competence occupies an important place in the system of this training.
