Financial Performance Analysis of District Central Co-operative Bank

Co-operative banks constitute an important segment of the Indian banking system. These banks operate mainly for the benefit of rural areas, particularly the agricultural sector. They have traditionally played an important role in creating banking habits among the lower and middle-income groups and in strengthening the rural credit delivery system. While the co-operative banks have to deal with customers in a competitive environment, the difficulties faced and advantages generated by them by to the consumers are almost of the same magnitude throughout the country despite wide diversities in language and culture. Therefore, it was decided to undertake the study of a particular area rather than of the entire country. Hence, the present study is a modest attempt to evaluate the performance of the District Central Co-operative Banks with particular reference to The Bardwan Central Co-operative Bank Ltd. in the district of Burdwan in West Bengal. This book highly useful for policy makers and researchers engaged in the field of Co-operative Banking sector.
