Financial Performance of Scheduled Commercial Banks: A Study

The financial performance of scheduled commercial banks in general and the Bank of India in particular is the focal theme of the present investigation. For this purpose, the study has been started from the basic things like definition and meaning of a bank, history of evolution of banking, important milestones in the growth of Indian banking, classification of banks, various committees worked on banking industry, structure and functions of the banking industry and the like, are examined in detail. Later the study has focused exclusively on the basic information on the Bank of India as it stood on the forefront of development.. In contrast, the present study focuses its attention on the financial performance of public sector banks in general and Bank of India in particular. The study, instead of taking a large number of parameters took only financial parameters to evaluate the efficiency of banks.
