Inadequate or lack of health care budgeting for informal settlement households is a major factor that determines their health seeking behavior. Rural urban migration is on the increase as people have a hope for finding jobs to enhance their survival. The result of being in the city with no proper occupation is a life confined in city slums with less than a dollar a day to spend on basic life needs. Among the worst affected priorities of life is lack of access to proper and appropriate health care services. Lack of health care results in poor health and poverty. This book explores the health seeking behavior of households living in informal settlements based on the budgets they allocate to health care.

Autorentext
The right to enjoy health is a universal right. In Kenya, the poor and marginalized are unable to access adequate and appropriate health services due to lack of funding. The result is a vicious cycle of poverty and poor health as families have to sell their property for funding emergency health services.
