Charlotte Brontë s Jane Eyre is one of the most unique literary achievements in the English literature. This study explores the world of the author s personal emotions,passions and frustrations in her novel with special emphasis on symbolism.Ms Brontë by employing lots of images - especially water and fire elements - depicts a wide range of different emotional effects.She leads us into the psychological depths of a human inside describing the extremes of sensitiveness from frozen and dispassionate impacts to hot and burning feelings. The central theme is the struggle between the two extremes.The destructive and preserving sides of the elements show how the characters are able to reconcile their passions with reason and reach their self-fulfilment and self-control.The factors do not exist without each other and they shape the participants emotional personality together. This summery depicts a psychological insight of her individuals indicating the characters spiritual and emotional development with fire and water elements.The conclusion is that love must find a middle way between the flames of passion and the waters of pure reason.
