Nations around the world are required to measure their progress towards key biodiversity goals. One important example of this, the Convention on Biological Diversity's 2010 target, is soon approaching. The target set is to significantly reduce the rate of biodiversity loss by the year 2010. It is well established that loss of biodiversity especially in tropical countries is mainly due to destruction and degradation of the habitat by human activities Study reveals that the diversity and species composition of Achnakmar-Amarkantak Biosphere Reserve forest is highly diverse.
