Focus on the social impact of sustainable tourism to local communities

This book combines a research of social sustainable tourism aspects with practical experiences in the two diverse destinations of Kenya and Serbia. It provides an overview of the nature of tourism related with social sustainabilty and options for the implementation of indicator systems to measure the social impact to local communities. Due to the potential of the sector to increase economic welfare through job creation and infrustructure development it reveals the importance of awareness raising among tourists and tourism stakeholders to improve socio-economic development and participation of the local population within tourism operations.

The passion of travelling, exploring different cultures and natural and historical sights, led the author to various long time travels through Afrika and Southeast Europe and further inspired her to scientifically study the impact of Tourism. Currently she is engaged in Tourism development of the middle and lower Danube region.
