Food as a Literary Device in Lucy Diamond's The Beach Cafe

Food not only enhances our survival, but also binds us with our fellow beings. It has always known to bring people together. Thus, it has found its space even in literature. Various dishes appear in the background in many stories. It has to be understood that they have a deep, self-sustaining meaning themselves. The present book discusses the involvement of food as a literary device, as a story-telling agent in Lucy Diamond's novel, The Beach Cafe. The novel is about Evie and her struggles to run a cafe. Here, food creates an ambiance for the plot to run. The menu of the cafe and the food prepared by Evie represent her life and career. This book is all about how Evie's choices are influenced by food and how the beach side dishes reflect her life.
