A common thought among people is that only visible ingredients of our food affect our health but if we look beyond that, we stumble upon the idea that, tiny microorganisms in food also have significant effects on our health. Food Microbiology gives us the lens to see beyond the visible color, flavor, odor and ingredients of the food and analyzes it at a microscopic level. It deals with the study of deleterious and beneficial effects of microbes on human health and their advanced applications in food industry. The topics that come under this field of study are food technology, food safety, food preservation and food poisoning.
