Food security and poverty reduction in Nigeria

Food security and poverty reduction, a critical assessment is an insightful text that takes a critical insight into scourge of poverty in an attempt to reduce poverty. poverty remains the greatest challenge in Benue-Nigeria of late, poverty has eaten deep into the fabrics of the society and one of the core effects of poverty is food insecurity. This text tries to analyze how poverty can be reduced through food security. thus the importance of food security to any nation can never be underestimated. the study strongly suggest that the government of Nigeria should pay more attention to agriculture in order to be able to feed its populace- self sufficiency and making agriculture a lucrative and viable venture for young people to vent into so as to create employment.

David Bauchi was born in Zaki-Biam,Ukum LGA of Benue State. He holds a BSc Sociology from University of Jos. He obtained MPA in 2002 and MSc Sociology in 2010 at Benue state university makurdi. He joined the Benue state civil service and progressively rose to the ranks of Director of co-operatives.He is currently on a PhD programme. he is married.
