FOR BETTER CONSTRUCTION of a MCQ and a clinical case MCQ

This practical guide aims to improve the writing of multiple-choice questions (MCQs) and clinical case reports (CCQCMs), essential assessment tools in medicine. It reiterates the fundamental docimological rules: clarity of pedagogical objective, alignment with the expected level, concise formulation, homogeneity of propositions, relevance of distractors and avoidance of bias (grammatical, cognitive or stylistic). The alternation of cognitive levels (knowledge, analysis, reasoning) and the use of contextualized clinical cases enable skills to be assessed more accurately. The book illustrates these principles with corrected examples and proposes a step-by-step methodology for designing effective CCQCMs. It stresses the importance of collaborative work and critical re-reading to guarantee validity, fairness and pedagogical quality.
