Force, Modality and Moods A Case Study in Bangla

This work discusses the concept of illocutionary force and its relation to modality and moods within a formal semantic understanding. Force and modality relate to each other all too often and are manifested in many ways, of which grammatical moods are significant. The work also discusses other illocutionary force indicating devices, like focus and intonation. The data discussed in the book is primarily from Bangla. The book tries to understand moods within a formal grammatical framework.
