Foreign language attrition

The phenomenon of language attrition defines the gradual language loss caused by a lack of contact with a language and is the main topic of this book. The aim of the research project was to determine and analyse language attrition of a third language in the written production of multilingual learners. The study examines specifically whether grammatical attrition takes place in Italian written production of multilingual language learners who have not used their third language in a specific timeframe, in this case approximately one year.
