Formline Design among the Haida, Tsimshian, and Tlingit
Details
This book is based on my thesis, entitled "Formline Design and the Transformation of the Trickster Image in Theory and Art History: With Special Reference to the Ethnic Groups of Canada's Pacific Northwest Coast." The book is an excerpt and deals with a separate topic from the entire thesis. It is intended to make reading more comfortable for the reader, as its reduced length makes it easier to read than a 600-page thesis. The book deals with the fourth chapter of the thesis, which focuses on formline design among the Haida, Tsimshian, and Tlingit peoples and how Native Americans of these ethnic groups on the northern coast of western Canada process and visually implement the trickster concept with the help of formline design.
