Formulation and Evaluation of Osmotic Pump of Famotidine

The aim of present research work is to design and optimize osmotic controlled drug delivery system (ODDS). In the present investigation the drug famotidine was selected for the design of ODDS. The drug has its absorption window in stomach and upper small intestine. Hence, it is aimed to Design and evaluate ODDS of Famotidine with different polymers. Morover WHO recommends and encourages that dosage forms which are cost effective and with the best technology should be available to the patients. The major objectives of the investigation are as follows: To formulate the ODDS of famotidine using different polymers and osmogen example Nacl, Fructose, Kcl, Sucrose, xylitol, sorbitol, Dextrose, citric acid, tartaric acid. Evaluation of the prepared ODDS. To carry out the in vitro dissolution studies of the ODDS in simulated gastric environment.
