Details

Glycopeptide antibiotic, Vancomycin hydrochloride is poorly absorbed from gastrointestinal tract so much less toxicity problem following oral use than with intravenous route. Vancomycin intravenous has been used successfully alone in the treatment of staphylococcal endocarditis while orally administered vancomycin may be used for the treatment of staphylococcal enterocolitis and antibiotic associated pseudomembranous colitis ( enterocolitis) produced by clostridium difficile so this orally administered vancomycin hydrochloride in a tablet form with 125 mg dose is useful for the treatment of Enterocolitis (pseudomembranous colitis).
