FOSTERING THE USE OF PALM FRONDS IN CHRISTIAN WORSHIP

This book attempts to interpret the pros and cons of fostering the use of palm fronds in African Christian worship. It focuses on building the faith of Catholic worshippers from this traditional symbol. A keen observer discovers that symbols can help in easy transcendence from the physical to the spiritual, as well as represent heavenly realities, through the lenses of the document of the Second Vatican Council on liturgy titled: Sacrosanctum Concilium 37-40. This is especially germane in view of the reality and urgency of an integrated African liturgy. Admittedly, this study is an illuminating prognosis and promising prescription on the trend and direction for the African Church today and tomorrow.

Emmanuel Chinedu Anagwo, docteur en liturgie sacrée et en philosophie de l'éducation, est maître de conférences à l'Institut catholique d'Afrique de l'Ouest (CIWA), à Port Harcourt, au Nigeria. Il a reçu une formation de liturgiste et de philosophe de l'éducation. Prêtre catholique du diocèse de Nnewi, au Nigeria, M. Anagwo a publié plus de 100 articles dans des revues universitaires et des chapitres de livres.
