The primary motive behind the development of metal matrix composites is to attain high strength, hardness and wear resistance by using suitable combination of reinforcement and matrix material. Apart from enhancing the properties like increased damping capability, reduced component weight, increased wear resistance, and higher temperature capabilities. The great advantage that lies in composites is the ability to engineer materials to meet the demands of different industrial applications. This book is focused on the development of Al alloy based MMC reinforced with ZrO2 (100nm) particulates. The developed MMC is evaluated for fracture toughness and wear characterization. The micro structural analysis is also carried out to investigate the presence of ZrO2 particulates and its nature of distribution in the matrix alloy.
