FRET-based exalted luminescent nanoplatforms

The development of new Nanomaterials based on hybrid materials is of high interest and impact in several areas of Science due to their large number of applications depending on their composition. In the present book, the design and synthesis of hybrid silica nanocomposites with luminescent properties enhanced by Fluorescence Resonant Energy Transfer (FRET) mechanism and their application to the bio-labeling of cyanobacteria is presented. In particular the study of these Bio-structures is related to a high Clinical and Environmental Interest. Since they possess weak luminescent properties, Energy Transfer processes between Nanoplatforms and Cyanobacteria, such as Bio-FRET mechanisms, were studied. In this way, synthetic luminescent properties were generated and evaluated by Fluorescence, Fluorescence Laser Microscopy and Flow Cytometry with Laser excitation and Fluorescent detection.
