Tobacco (Nicotiana tabacum L.), which belongs to the family solanaceae is believed to be introduced into India from its native Central America in 1603.India occupies second place in area and third place in production accounting for 10 per cent of world area and about 9 per cent of tobacco production by using just 0.3 per cent arable land.In recent years frog-eye leaf spot has become a major production constraint in bidi tobacco growing areas.This book covers various aspects such as severity of the disease,associated causal agent, cultural and physical requirements of the pathogen,eco-friendly approaches in its management in Northern Karnataka.

Mr.Mallappa Pairashi completed his M Sc (Agri.) in Plant Pathology from University of Agricultural Sciences,Dharwad,India in the year 2007.Dr.Shamarao Jahagirdar Senior Scientist(Plant Pathology),Dept.of Plant Pathology,AICRP on Soybean,UAS,Dharwad guided Mr.Mallappa Pairashi for Master's degree.Mr.Pairashi has three research papers to his credit.
