Details

On the darkest shelf in the library, there stands a
novel with the title Frankenstein. Several hours
later the last page of the book is read. The first
thought that comes into one s mind: amazing; such a
great story, with such strong characters. But
something is wrong. Although the novel is quite
popular, the pieces do not fit, as the Monster seen
on television and every morning on the cereal box
named Frankenstein is completely different from the
one described in the novel, which was abandoned and
deprived of love. Furthermore it does not even have a
name in the original text. In our days it is most
frequently called Frankenstein and it is quite a
popular character. Obviously it underwent a huge
change, a complete metamorphosis. The purpose of this
short study is to present the change that
Frankenstein s Monster suffered. Since the appearance
of the Monster, nearly two centuries have passed
during which many contributed to the image of this
character we have today. To cover this search and to
unveil the shifts and mistakes in time, several
factors are taken into consideration and are presented.
