Fulani Herdsmen and Agatu farmers' Conflicts in Benue State

This book focuses on the causes, effects and implications of the conflicts between Agatu community (who are predominantly farmers or crop growers) and Fulani Herdsmen (who are predominantly pastoralists and cattle breeders). Both of these actors are ethnic nationalities in Nigeria engaged in a sharply contrasting occupations in the Benue Valley of Nigeria. The conflict that ensued due to some kinds of misgivings resulted in catastrophic destruction of life and property on both sides of the respective Actors. Besides, the conflict attracted international attention in 2012 and onwards. As a way forward, the Author proposed some suggestions or recommendations on how best to tackle the impasse and avoid slippery path that may rear its ugly head in the future.

Dr Ogwola, Idoko Robert is currently a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Public Administration, Federal University, Gashua-Nigeria. Ogwola is an ambitious academic with considerable years of teaching and research experience both in Nigeria and the Republic of Rwanda. Ogwola holds a PhD in Policy and Development Studies.
