Fundamental concepts in Calculus

Calculus (Latin, calculus, a small stone used forcounting) is a branch of mathematics focused onlimits, functions, derivatives, integrals, andinfinite series. This subject constitutes a majorpart of modern mathematics education. It has twomajor branches, differential calculus and integralcalculus, which are related by the fundamentaltheorem of calculus. Calculus is the study of change.A course in calculus is a gateway to other, moreadvanced courses in mathematics devoted to the studyof functions and limits, broadly called mathematicalanalysis. Calculus has widespread applications inscience, economics, and engineering and can solvemany problems for which algebra alone is insufficient.This book is prepared in easy and self-explanatoryform that help students to easily understand the mainconcepts of calculus and for teachers as well it canbe used as teaching material. I have got a Bachelor degree in Mathematics in 2001(Debub University) and M.Sc.degree in Optimization in 2006(Addis Ababa University)in Ethiopia.I have a seven year and nine months of experience in different organizations.Now,I am working in Arba Mich University from 2007 as a Mathematics lecturer giving different higher level Mathematics courses.
