Furrow Irrigation: Water Front Advance, Recession and Infiltration

Water is the most important natural resource on the earth and is pivotal in every aspect of life. Rising demand of water, specifically for irrigated agriculture, has brought new challenges to the water resources planners and managers. Realizing the demand gaps arising due to uneven spatio-temporal distribution of rainfall, it is necessary to create suitable irrigation facilities. Other than the modern micro-irrigation technologies, furrow irrigation has been the most efficient surface irrigation methods. Hence, a project was undertaken to study the infiltration capacity, water front advance and recession under furrow irrigation.
