The Database Management System (DBMS) is a complex software system that enables the user and other software applications to store, retrieve and modify data in a structured way. The modern business applications need large databases to be built and managed. The performance of the DBMS is the critical issue that needs to be considered, as the DBMS is always expected to run smoothly [1]. A DBMS has several configuration parameters that play a critical role in performance [2]. The performance of DBMS depends on several factors such as number of user's process, buffer hit ratio, table size etc. DBMS tuning refers to altering the key system parameters and the configuration of the memory and processing resources of the computer running the DBMS. To tune the database system, the database administrator (DBA) has to continuously monitor the DBMS and several other system parameters so as to enhance the system memory and CPU utilization. This requires a highly skilled DBA to perform the entire task on the DBMS such that it runs smoothly.
