The central issue of this volume is violence against women and young girls as part of symbolic or systemic violence, overt or subtle, and its impact on their health and general well-being.

Giuseppina Cersosimo is Full Professor of Sociology at the University of Salerno. She teaches Sociology and Sociology of Health. Her research interests include Sociological Theory, Qualitative Methods, Symbolic Interactionism, Gender Studies, Violence, and Sociology of Health and Medicine.
