Gender Disparity in Literacy and Work Participation

Gender Disparity in India means health, education, economic, and political inequalities between men and women in India. Gender inequalities are important in various dimensions, including education, employment, and health. Therefore, this book deals with the introduction, conceptual background, brief review of literature, choice of the study region, objectives, hypothesis, database, and methodology. The rest of the part is about literacy rates from national to district level, patterns in general and gender-wise literacy and disparity between male-female literacy rates, trend work participation, and patterns of overall and male-female work participation rate and gender disparity. Overall and male-female work participation rates in the agricultural and non-agricultural sectors and also a correlation between female literacy and their work participation in agricultural and non-agricultural sectors and also the case study of selected sample villages have been incorporated.This book has also been supplemented by several tables, Q-GIS maps, and suitable diagrams for giving a clear exposition of the spatial patterns and gender disparity.
