Genetics of BPH Resistance in Rice (Oryza sativa L.)

Rice is an important cereal crop in India and it was effected by many biotic and abiotic stresses. Among the biotic stresses BPH is major pest and it causing huge damage to the crop and to control this farmers used to spray many insecticides causing environmental hazards. So to solve this problem host plant resistance is eco-friendly and economical also to develop insect resistant varieties working out of insect resistance genetics is paramount important.

Dr.Balakrishna B completed B.Sc(Agril.), M.Sc (Agri.) with specialization in Genetics of BPH resistance and Ph.D with specialization in inter-specific hybridisation in cotton (H x B) from ANGRAU, Hyderabad. He published above 20 research papers in national and inter-national journals.Participated in above 20 national and inter-national conferences.
