Geo-Polymer Concrete

Use of Ordinary Portland Cement for infrastructural development has become major source of environmental deterioration due to excessive CO2 emission and exploitation of natural resources. Geopolymer Concrete utilizing industrial waste has provided eco-friendly material for mitigating environmental hazards of OPC and other similar construction material. Geopolymer Concrete also provides a material which gains early strength and is durable against various environmental attacks, thus, cost effective and low carbon footprint material for construction practices. This book provides comprehensive knowledge of geopolymer paste/mortar and concrete as alternative eco-friendly construction material with low carbon footprint. It explains basic concepts of geopolymerization, alkali activators, mechanochemical activation, ambient temperature curing and quick strength gain. It also elaborates methods and processes involved in making of geopolymer concrete and related materials, physical and durability testing and interpretation of results thereof. The book also includes detailed discussions and inferences of various tests results of microstructural, physical and durability testing.

Ashita Singh is presently serving as Assistant Professor in Civil Engineering, U.I.T. R.G.P.V., Bhopal (India). She has contributed in execution of research projects in collaboration with research/industrial organizations. She was awarded Young Scientist Award by Madhya Pradesh Council of Science and Technology, Bhopal for her research.
