Agriculture occupies an important place in the economy of India and contributes to one third of national income. Agricultural resources play a significant role in determining the socio- economic and cultural progress and prosperity of the rural population. Agricultural production, on a sustainable basis, depends on the judicious use of natural resources like soil, water, animal resources, crop/ plant genetic resources etc, adoption of appropriate technology management and prevailing socio- economic infrastructure. This Book analyses the Agro-Ecological aspects and assess the agricultural land use efficiency. Land capacity, land suitability and agricultural land use efficiency of the district have been assessed based on several factors such as crop intensity, irrigation intensity, area sown more than once, area under commercial crops etc. The other areas covered are climatic variability and its impact on agricultural production, Crop concentration, diversification, crop combinations and sustainable agriculture and rural development.
