The use of geotechnologies for studies and surveys of natural resources has become an important means for developing actions aimed at meeting the technological innovation demands of productive activities. Remote sensing technology, through the use of satellite images, makes it possible to map and characterize large areas of dense vegetation. This fact, combined with advances in geoprocessing computer tools and easy access to the global computer network, constitutes an important vehicle for making a wealth of information available in different formats. This book presents research that was developed with the objective of performing georeferenced mapping of the spatial distribution of babassu in the municipalities with the highest production in the northern region of the state of Piauí, using scenes from the RapidEye satellite, and generating a web-based tool with the mapping results and updated information on the babassu agribusiness in the state.
