Papal and Spanish diplomats exercised enormous influence on power politics of at the court of Emperor Rudolf II (15761612). All information on significant events in the Holy Roman Empire and the Habsburg lands passed through them. They effectively represented the interests of Spain and the Pope. The volume undertakes a comparative examination of the networks, communication pathways, as well as life circumstances of particular clients.
