Details

Gesture is an important indicator of a person's attention and communicative behavior with applications in human computer interaction (HCI) and vision systems. In recent years, vision-based gesture recognition (VGR) has become a key research topic in HCI and there are many real-life applications of VGR. Most of the recent and important applications of VGR include Sign language recognition, Virtual reality, Virtual game, Augmented reality, Smart video conferencing, Smart home and office, Healthcare and Medical assistance, Robotic surgery, Wheelchair control, Driver monitoring, Vehicle control, Interactive presentation module and Virtual classroom, human-robot interaction interface and so on. The various applications based on human gestures can be categorized with respect to the different parts of the human body, such as arm gesture, body gesture, facial gesture, hand gesture and head gesture. In the present scenario, the vision based head gesture recognition has become a highly emerging research area for the purpose of human computer interaction.
