Ghanaian Bank Performance Following The Global Financial Crisis
Details
The aim of this research was to investigate the repercussions of the financial crisis on Ghanaian bank performance. It was to empirically explore the key expository factors that could have affected profit levels of banks in Ghana during the downturn, vis-à-vis pre-crisis and post-crisis performance. Since Ghanaian banks operated within similar environments of financial development and economic dispensations as other developing economies, informed judgments will be drawn on the competitiveness of their strategies and other managerial resources, utilizing different measures of profitability. The crucial contribution of this work is the understanding into the way investors, financial analysts, bank managers, and state institutions might be anticipated to use bank performance information in published financial reports. State institutions, such as the central bank and other banking governing bodies in particular, might use the findings of this study as a prompt to stay alert to future crises and hence formulate or modify banking related policies to forestall future crises or mitigate their adverse effects.
