Details

Against a background of an environmental and resources crisis, the exploitation of renewable energy can effectively alleviate the energy crisis and contribute to global energy-saving, emission reduction and environmental protection, thus promoting sustainable development. The advantages of renewable, non-pollution, wide distribution and huge storage make the offshore wind energy resource to be a particular area of interest. The basic principle should be 'resource evaluation and planning ahead'. This book presents the overall trend, regional and seasonal differences of the long term trends of global oceanic sea surface wind speed and wind energy resource. The long term trends of occurrences of wind speeds greater than Class 5 and greater than Class 6 are also calculated firstly. Then the relationship between important factors and occurrences of wind speed is calculated. And the global oceanic wind climate and wind energy climate are also exhibited, in hope of providing references for the analysis of global climate change, the development of offshore wind energy, thus making a contribution towards alleviating the energy crisis and promoting sustainable development of human society.
