Globalization of American Fear Culture
Details
Fear and terror have come to drive world politics, and the people who do the driving have shaped and used them to carry out their policies. As the world's political economy devolves into chaos, Globalization of American Fear Culture posits that violence and fear have become the new statecraft.
I feel professor Skoll presents a well-argumented book which is a result of years of academic maturation and research. Skoll exerts a radical and illustrative criticism on the 'culture of fear' in the USA. It gives us an impressive snapshot of the USA so that readers may expand their understanding of what capitalism is. To my end, this is one of those books which are a must-read reference . Klappentext
Globalization of American Fear Culture traces the parallel development of three historical institutions: the generation of fear for controlling people, the US empire, and global capitalism. Through historical accounts and dialectical analysis the book offers the argument that a fear culture, US hegemony, and the globalization of capital are intertwined and interdependent. In the twenty-first century these three strands of history are leading to world systemic destabilization, and they are leading to a future political economy that is fascistic. Nonetheless, the book ends with a glimmer of hope that within current conditions of chaos a new world might be built based on real democracy and freedom.
