Go Global China
Details
This book analyzes the positioning of Chinese SOEs in Ecuador's copper sector in relation to China's Go Global strategy, in an effort to understand the political nature of markets and the links between the external and the internal within the International Political Economy (IPE). The functioning of State Owned Enterprises (SOEs) as arms of China's foreign policy and the deployment of corporate diplomacy and its implications for countries such as Ecuador within China's internationalized development strategy in relation to human rights. In conclusion, it is clear that the effects of corporate diplomacy have the capacity to influence not only markets but also the political organization of host countries, with the risk of undermining the protection of human rights in regions such as Latin America.
