Goals Software Construction Process

Worldwide hyper competitiveness determines the need to offer better products to clients in order to mark an advantage over the competition, impelling enterprises to work on the efficacy of their Business Processes by means of the construction of Interactive Information Systems (IISs). Requirements for the IIS must be defined and analyzed with precision, and the system must be accurately designed to minimize implementation problems, ensuring that it will be produced on schedule and with fewer mistakes as possible. Goals is a Software Engineering solution that defines the tasks to be carried out by the different stakeholders to achieve correctness of the IIS by means of a fully structured process, based on the application of two complementary methodologies: (i) Process Use Cases, a goal-driven and use case- oriented methodology for requirements definition, and; (ii) MultiGoals, a use case-driven and architectural-centric methodology for the analysis and design of the complete system. Pedro graduated and made his master in Software Engineering at University of Madeira (UMa). He has been working since 2001 at UMa as a software developer, where he had the space to apply several methodologies regarding the development of "better software" and to conceive Goals, Process Use Cases and MultiGoals which are presented in this book.
