Gondwana is a first to have free-roaming Big Five in the Western Cape, Gondwana is also situated on 12 000 ha of fynbos and proteas. The reserve is home to Lion, Elephant, Leopard, Buffalo, Rhinoceros, Eland, Red Hartebeest, Bontebok, Springbok, Kudu, Zebra, Wildebeest, Gemsbok, Aardwolf, Bushpig, Bat-eared Fox, Grey Rhebok, Grey Duiker, Bushbuck, Klipspringer, Cape Clawless Otter as well as two species that are very rare, a sub-species of the Black Rhino and the Cape Mountain Zebra, both are threatened species and rehabilitation programs to increase numbers have been initiated.All of the Big Five have now been released into Gondwana Game Reserve and can be spotted roaming in their natural surroundings. The wildlife population is thriving and numbers are growing quickly with many offspring being born from the Zebra, Eland, Wildebeest and Gemsbok.Gondwana also has a mating pair of Black Harrier, which are also a threatened species.
