Graphic Design in an Interactive Edutainment Television Programme
Details
An interactive edutainment television programme that was framed on local content for youth in South Africa was used as the basis for this book. An interview with producers with experience in the television industry, a review of the available literature and material from the internet were consulted. The history of graphic design in the television industry and the edutainment trend in South Africa is described. This leads to a discussion of the current state of education within the country. Edutainment, an amalgamation of education and entertainment, was customised for South African audiences, as a high percentage of the population comprises uneducated youth. In order to present education through an entertainment industry tool, the business plan devised is specific to the graphic design industry, because graphic design is the marketing tool that engages the target market for this purpose.
