Growth of Education under the Dewanship of Sir. M. Vishweshwaraya

Educational development in Mysore between 1912-1918 is very significant. The period of Dewanship of Sir M. Vishweshwaraya was very crucial and formative. Dewan M. Vishweshwaraya was a man of versatile, character, man of high discipline and ideals, far sighted administrator and engineer who left no stone unturned on the path of progress of Mysore. The visionary of modernity had undivided affection to the cause of education. His dewanship laid a firm foundation for the future and rapid progress of the state in all spheres. He was well aware that any progress or development should be rooted in its educational institutions.This research study aims in brining out how the period of his Dewanship laid firm policies in the field of education. This versatile Dewan brought out the most pragmatic policy in education.There is also an objective to analyse whether he had a policy of helping the backward classes out of the shackles of illiteracy? Whether his achievement in the field of education could match with that of his achievement in other fields is what the book is tries to focus on.
