From ancient times to the present day, metals have always been of great importance to mankind. From simple working tools in the field to the composition of cars and aircrafts, steel has been vital for the advancement of society. Knowing its properties in order to handle them with more control of the results is always a challenge to Engineering. The Hadfield steels present an interesting characteristic during its machining process. At the same time that they are ductile, they suffer hardening when submitted to severe working conditions. This book has as main objective, to explore part of these properties of this type of steel, in four different compositions of Hadfield Steel being submitted to the Flattening process. An analysis of its behaviour under certain wear conditions is also made.

Guilherme da Rocha Lima si è laureato in Fisica presso l'Universidade Estadual Paulista (Unesp). Insegna Fisica nelle scuole superiori e nei corsi pre-universitari e ha conseguito un Master in Ingegneria meccanica, nell'area della lavorazione dei materiali, sempre presso l'Universidade Estadual Paulista (Unesp).
