Dr. Rebecca M. Law has expertise in dermatology, pharmacotherapy, geriatrics / dementia care, pediatrics / neonatology, and interprofessional education. She has published about dermatology topics in book chapters in core pharmacotherapy textbooks used throughout the United States and Canada since 1997, spanning twelve editions in some textbooks. She has over 150 publications with the majority in the areas of dermatology and pharmacotherapy. She is a knowledgeable clinician with clinical practice experience for in-patient dermatology, geriatrics and dementia settings, internal medicine, hematology / oncology, palliative care, respiratory, and pediatrics / neonatology settings. Her fields of research included dermatology (dermatotoxicology, quantitative structure-activity relationships [QSARs], general dermatology), geriatrics, pediatrics, and education (pedagogy).
The Association of Faculties of Pharmacy of Canada (AFPC) has recognized her twice for her service to pharmacy academia: in 2012 with the AFPC Woods-Hughes Special Service Award In recognition of distinguished service to AFPC Council and Executive and in 2017 with a Special Recognition Award For 20 years of faithful volunteer service as Editor of the AFPC Newsletter.
She was recognized by Memorial University's Faculty of Medicine, Discipline of Family Medicine in 2016 with the George Hurley Award in Interprofessional Education For excellence of nonphysician teaching contributions to the Residency Training Program,
As a group award where she was an author, in 2008, the American Medical Writers Association (AMWA) awarded the textbook Pharmacotherapy Principles & Practice, 1st edition with the AMWA Distinguished 2008 Medical Book Healthcare Professionals Award as the best new textbook of 2008.
She has been a journal reviewer for many journals including the Journal of Pediatric Pharmacology and Therapeutics (JPPT), Journal of Toxicology and Environmental Health, Annals of Dermatological Research, Pharmacotherapy. Pediatric Research, Case Reports in Perinatal Medicine, BMC Health Services Research, and Pharmacy Practice.
Dr. Howard Maibach sees patients at The Environmental Dermatoses Clinic, which is part of the Dermatology Clinic at UCSF. His most active fields of research are in dermatopathology, dermatotoxicology and environmental dermatoses. He has been doing human subject research for over fifty (50) years. Dr. Maibach has been on the editorial board of more than 30 scientific journals. His bibliography includes 3,075+ manuscripts and over 150 books.
