HEALTH EMERGENCY AND DISASTER MANAGEMENT PREPAREDNESS AND RESPONSE

Health and Hospital systems are the most critical units of the emergency support function especially during disaster. This document intends to support the health facilities to formulate their own all hazards approach disaster management plan in accordance per their resources. Emphasis is made in this guide on strengthening the functioning, coordination and response for an enhanced pre-hospital and hospital care during disaster without disruption of essential routine services. The document gives an overview of disaster, outlines the steps and clear activities on internal and external facility-based disaster preparedness, planning, response and post disaster recovery. This health emergency and disaster Management preparedness and response guiding book would guide in developing integrated internal and external disaster preparedness and response plans that are consistent with the city or community disaster management plans. Emphasis is laid on strengthening the functioning, coordination and response for an enhanced pre-hospital and hospital care.
