Health-related self-help in West and East Germany

In the West of Germany there is an overstraining and dissatisfaction of self-help activists in the field of organised self-help. There is a growing demand on the part of the self-help inquirers. The question arises whether this is an all-German or only a West German phenomenon. A comparison of narrative interviews reveals significant differences in the way self-help is organised in West and East Germany. Fundamental is a different understanding of possible claims and their granting. Moreover, people who are active in self-help differ significantly in their self-image and understanding of the work to be done in West and East Germany.
